PROCESS
At the outset, you need to answer the question: do I have an innovative business or idea for one. If the answer is yes. Congratulations! It should be simple. you will need to describe in detail what you do or plan to do, talk about the spanish market, don't forget about local competitors, calculate the financial model and flows, and don't forget about plans to employ spanish citizens.
BUSINESS PLAN DEVELOPMENT
Applying for a visa is slightly different to applying for residency, but the set of documents itself remains the same. In the case of a visa, you will need to wait for approval of your business plan from the local Spanish trade representative. After that, submit everything to the consulate in your place of residence. In the case of residence, upload all documents via your personal account.
Applying for a visa/residency
Once you have received a favourable decision on the business plan, the rest of the process becomes a formality. In case of a visa, you have to submit a package of documents at the local consulate. The package, in addition to the positive conclusion, includes a certificate from the bank of funds in the amount of 100% IPREM for the main applicant and 50% for family members. Spanish insurance. Photo. A certificate of criminal records with an apostille. Completed application form for a national visa. In the case of residency, you have already submitted all these documents together with a business plan.
FAVOURABLE DECISION
The visa is renewed with a three-year residence permit and then with another one. After two extensions, you can apply for a five-year residence permit and then citizenship. The renewal procedures themselves are identical to the initial application. The most problematic will be the second extension, as by this time your startup should already have enough results (revenue, employees in Spain) to show and you must reflect this in your business plan. But don't worry, if your startup failed to survive, you can always modify your residency into an autonomo (IP) without leaving Spain.
